Architecture in Yugoslavia, 1948–1980
Book redesign
The concept for this book was created within the CAS typography and print at the ZHdK. The raw material was kindly provided by Bruno Margreth, who has designed the «original» for the MoMA. The main question was, how one should design a book that will contain highly complex scientific texts and rich photo essays at the same time. The approach was to consistently separate these two parts. The text parts - focal points, essays and case studies - run parallel. This creates exciting associations and unexpected connections between the texts. These are repeatedly interrupted by generously designed photo essays, shot by Valentin Jeck. The result is a concept for a 550-page book measuring 22 x 33 cm, but still very light and readable through the choice of paper: Profibulk 60–150g, Maxigloss 135g.
